Ray Henson Poker
Dylan Hortin raises from the cutoff to 7,000, and Ray Henson calls from the big blind. The flop comes Js9h3h, Henson checks, Hortin bets 6,500, and Henson check-raises to 20,500. The turn card is the 4c, Henson bets 38,000, and Hortin thinks for a while before he calls. Ray Henson joined shortly after the first break of the day. He just doubled up when he three-bet shoved with. His opponent called with and then shrugged his shoulders as if he expected a queen to roll off on the flop. Henson stayed ahead and earned the double. Henson is currently third in the WSOP Player of the Year race.
Ray Henson defeated Poker Hall of Famer T.J. Cloutier heads-up to emerge victorious in the record-setting 2015 World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw $365 no-limit hold’em re-entry event. For the win Henson earned $197,588 and his fourth WSOP Circuit gold ring.
The event had a $500,000 guarantee, which it blew out of the water when it drew 4,053 entries to build a $1,215,900 prize pool and become the largest-ever WSOP Circuit event in terms of field size.
The previous record holder was a 2011 re-entry event at the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammond that had 3,001 entries. The next largest field was in this same event in 2014, which had a 2,867-entry turnout.
Henson took a 5-to-3 chip lead into the final heads-up battle with Cloutier. On the final hand the two had made it to a flop of JJ7 and got all of the chips in with Cloutier’s KK in trouble against the QJ of Henson. The board completed with the A on the turn and the Q on the river to secure the pot and the title for Henson.
